Did an EX-JW wake you up to TTATT or did you put the effort to wake up yourself?
by John Aquila inhow many of us were woken up by some apostate yelling false prophets at a convention?.
how many of us were woken up by someone holding a sign and yelling, what happened to 1975.
how many of us were coerced to investigate the wt because some ex-jw pulled up a bunch of old watchtowers magazines and told us to read the false predictions?.

Self wake.... When they started changing "when this generation would see the new system" (say around 2010) we looked into 607, used WT's, JW CD library, all of the society's literature.
All kinds of wrong things had happened in the past from elders, CO's, kindgom hall builds, assembly hall builds..... all kinds of stuff..... It wasn't until something doctrinal came up, that showed they were lying, that was provable, along with the internet (with webistes like this & others), did we have the ability to just stop. We saw the man behind the curtain....That was it.

Hello to everybody!

Hi there! So glad to hear your whole fam made it out!
Mine did too! and for THAT I am so glad! I was quite anxious, at first, to see if my three children would be able to "look behind the curtain" and be able to deal with what they saw.
Congratulations!

A new member
by Kurteousmaximus inhi... i am new and after nearly 20 years after being disassociated at 15 i would like to make contact with others who have similar difficulties.
my mother was disfellowshipped shortly after my rebellion and had all ties with both her mother and brother cut and that remains the case.. just really hacked off with not being able to put things in the proper place in my life after all these years.
for the record i don't know if i believe in god but am searching for some peace as i seem to self destruct on a regular basis.. any ideas anyone?.

Hi Kurteousmaximus! Welcome!
One thing you will love about this place, as I did/ do, is that there are people who share your same experiences, who will understand right away... w/o a lot of explaining.... what you are going thru ;)
They also have great ideas of how to survive the mental anguish the WT loads on to your brain. It helps you sort things out, feel better about yourself, see who the real villain is. Just being able to express yourself helps, right?
There are people who believe in God, in some form.... others are atheists... agnostics, some are evolutionists, undecided, all kinds... but we all know what the WT has done to many people, and are empathetic to the dilemmas you are going thru.
Hang in there, who knows? there may be an exJW that lives close to you!

Countering JW shunning: How a social psychologist's work from 50 yrs ago points to a new approach
by adamah ini've written a blog article on the topic of jw practice of shunning, inspired by a few recent threads on jwn where the results of social psychologist stanley milgram's work on authority figures came into the discussion:.
http://awgue.weebly.com/countering-jw-shunning-how-the-implications-of-stanley-milgrams-work-may-suggest-using-a-different-approach.html.
as usual, the article will be available for reading there, but please discuss over here in this thread.. .

Your Religion Is Dispicable
by freemindfade inhttp://www.jw.org/en/news/legal/by-region/world/jehovahs-witnesses-in-prison-2/.
the witnesses make reference to article 18 of the international covenant on civil and political rights, in reference to their not being able to practice their religion in certain places.
how despicable when (in my mind) their policy of disfellowshipping, apostasy, etc, causes them coerce members to keep this religion.

Hidden From Jehovah's Witness videos
by Vortex inthis video deal with some really important information that i wanted to share with you all, looks like it may have hit a nerve in the watchtower, because the stock link he mentioned in the video has been taken down, it was up yesterday, he says he plays chess and anticipated they would do that, so he supplied a secondary link to the same information.
the entire 8 part series is very informative exposing alot about watchtower doctrine, and hidden elements.
here is the link to the video.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0lrdx3vpug.

The Watchtower Society is confused over its “Seventy Years” and "Seven Times"
by Doug Mason inuntil now, the watch tower society [wts] has argued that the 70 years was a period during which judah was totally and completely depopulated.
for this reason, it constantly argued that the period commenced when the jews left judah and entered egypt.
jerusalem was destroyed in the fifth month (two months before october/tishri).

Exactly!!! WT lawyers use and quote 1st amendment rights, civil rights,THEIR rights ..... And turn around and deny everyone else their rights!
How many times do you remember them bragging, boasting to you of all the court cases they have won for "freedom of religion"?
